Vox is Latin for “voice” and on college campuses in New Jersey we are voices for Planned Parenthood.

Through Vox groups, college students across the country organize events on campus to raise public awareness about reproductive rights, educate young people at concerts about sexual health, work with and support their local Planned Parenthood health centers, and mobilize advocates of reproductive freedom.

There's power in the voices of pro-choice students on campus.

Starting a Vox Group on Your Campus

It's Easy!

If you have a passion for helping women secure their freedom of reproductive choice and you want to get your college or high school campus involved, then you should consider starting a Vox group. Follow these easy steps below!

1. Make sure there isn't already a Vox chapter on your campus. A list of established Vox chapters can be found here.

2. Contact your local Planned Parenthood Affiliate to let them know you are interested in starting a group. The affiliate can serve as an advisor for your group and help supply you with Vox materials and with speakers or films for events. You can reach Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey by calling 732-842-9300 and asking for the Public Information Director. You can also call your area affiliate by dialing 1-800-230-PLAN.

3. Organize your campus. Learn about your campus environment and the best way to attract members.

4. Identify potential group members. Gather your friends, table in your college center, or ask classmates if they want to be a part of your group. Also, contact the director of your campus women's center and/or women's studies department and give them the opportunity to be involved.

5. Hold events! Events are a great way to attract people to your group.

6. Be prepared for opposition. Learn how to respond to anti-choice hardliners.

7. Keep in mind security considerations. Make sure your members and attendees feel safe and comfortable at your functions.

Visit the Vox Website for more information on how to start a Vox group and for tools to help you recruit members, organize events, and hold meetings.
